Let us help you shed the last of the flab!

About Post Weight Loss Surgery

Major weight loss is an amazing achievement, but it can sometimes be discouraging that you have some areas that could use some fine-tuning. Surgery after to your weight loss can target specific areas that you desire to remove excess skin, including your abdomen, legs, arms, flanks, breasts, face and more. This body contouring procedure can tighten and tone your body to help you feel confident in showing off your new body.

Am I a good candidate?

If you have recently lost mass amounts of weight from gastric bypass surgery or from diet and exercise leaving you with sagging excess skin, you may be a good candidate for post weight loss surgery and body contouring. You must be in good general health and near your stable, goal body weight before performing this procedure.

How is Post Weight Loss surgery performed?

Depending on the areas you wish to target, your post weight loss procedure will vary. Most commonly amongst males, this includes the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms, face and neck. Each procedure is similar to a lift that removes excess skin and tightens the underlying muscles for a better overall contour. For the abdomen for example, patients commonly require a tummy tuck. Here, a small incision is made above the pubic line to remove the sagging skin and tighten the abdominal muscles. Some require an overnight stay in a hospital depending on the variation of procedures required.

Results and Recovery

As mentioned, procedures will vary based on your particular case, so scarring will vary. You can expect some swelling, bruising and soreness for a few weeks. Most patients take two to three weeks off of work to allow their bodies to heal if their procedure is targeting multiple areas of the body. Be sure to allow your body enough time to recover, but Dr. Basile will be able to give you more specifications on recovery and downtime after your consultation.
