A sagging “turkey neck” can age your appearance well beyond simple wrinkles and sagging of the face. In many of our male patients, we find that they are OK with the signs of aging, but feel self-conscious when that sagging skin extends to your neck. Here is where patients come to Dr. Basile to tighten the neck and jawline for a natural looking rejuvenation.

About a Male Neck lift

A neck lift procedure removes excess fat and skin below the chin and on the neck. The procedure restores the youthful contours of the neck and jawline for those experiencing signs of aging specifically on the neck. This procedure can rid you of a “turkey neck,” double chin and even jowl lines.

Am I a good candidate?

Good candidates for a male neck lift include those seeking tightening of the skin surrounding their lower jawline and neck. This procedure will not change the underlying structure of your neck or jawline, but rather restore a more youthful look to your natural appearance. Candidates must also be in good health and non-smokers for this procedure.

His office staff is wonderful! Thank you again, Dr. Basile!”

How is a Neck lift performed?

A male neck lift will include general anesthesia or other sedation methods based upon Dr. Basile’s recommendation. Based on your case, Dr. Basile will also recommend a traditional or limited incision neck lift. A traditional will require an incision behind the ear, along the hairline and up past the temples where a limited generally has an incision surrounding the ear. The existing fat will then be moved or redistributed to better sculpt the neck. Dr. Basile will then tighten the muscles and remove excess skin.

Frequently Asked Questions about Neck Lift for Men

What is a male neck lift, and how does it differ from other neck lift procedures?

A male neck lift is specifically tailored to men's anatomical structure and aesthetic goals. It focuses on defining the jawline and reducing excess skin or fat. The procedure may differ in technique to accommodate thicker skin and increased hair density than those typically used for women.

How long does recovery take after a male neck lift?

Recovery time can vary, but most patients return to normal activities within 2 to 4 weeks. Following your surgeon’s specific post-operative instructions ensures a smooth healing process.

Are there any risks associated with a male neck lift?

Risks of any surgical procedure include infection, bleeding, and scarring. However, choosing a qualified plastic surgeon can significantly minimize these risks.

What age is ideal for a male to undergo a neck lift?

There is no ideal age as it depends on individual signs of aging and personal health. However, most men consider a neck lift in their 40s to 60s when signs of aging become more prominent.

Can a neck lift be combined with other procedures for men?

A neck lift can be combined with other procedures, such as facelifts, chin augmentation, or eyelid surgery, to improve facial aesthetics more holistically.

What should be avoided after a neck lift?

After a neck lift, male patients should avoid strenuous activity, smoking and alcohol, blood thinners, direct exposure to the sun, and putting pressure on their necks.

How long does a neck lift take?

A neck lift typically takes 2-3 hours to complete. It can depend on how much excess skin and fat is removed.

Why do men get neck lifts?

Men often get neck lifts to address signs of aging, including sagging skin, wrinkles, jowls, and excess fat, and achieve a more youthful, masculine appearance to the neck.

Are there visible scars with a neck lift?

Incisions are typically hidden around the ears and under the chin. Any scars will fade and become less visible over time.

Are the results of a neck lift permanent?

While the results of a neck lift are long-lasting, the procedure cannot stop the natural aging process. Patients may notice sagging or wrinkles over time, but the neck will look more youthful than if they didn’t have the procedure.
