Are you unhappy with the size or shape of your breasts? Dr. Basile has several options to help you achieve natural looking, or voluminous breasts to enhance your appearance and confidence.

About Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation is a surgical procedure that enhances your breasts, improves their shape and symmetry and adds overall fullness. Breast Augmentation continues to lead the industry as one of the most-performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the United States. The procedure can be performed alone or be used in combination with a breast lift for optimal results.

Am I a good candidate?

If you are dissatisfied with the current shape or volume of your breasts or asymmetry of your breasts, you may be a good candidate for a Breast Augmentation procedure. You must have fully developed breasts in order to qualify for this procedure, therefore candidates must be 18 years old for saline breast implants, or 22 years old for silicone breast implants. Women often choose to have breast augmentation surgery to enhance naturally small or asymmetrical breasts or to restore volume and contour loss with age or after pregnancy or weight loss. No matter what their reason for undergoing a breast augmentation, patients should have realistic goals in mind to be successful candidates.

Real Patient Results

How is a Breast Augmentation procedure performed?

Before breast augmentation surgery, a consultation will take place where Dr. Basile will discuss the patient’s options when it comes to breast implant type, placement, and incision techniques. In understanding Breast Augmentation, you should know the options available to you regarding the type of incision, augment, and breast implant options. If you prefer implants, you have two options:

Saline

Saline implants are FDA-approved for those 18 and older and provide a firm structure for the breasts. These implants are filled with sterile saltwater, therefore, they are harmless in the case of a rupture or leak.

Silicone

Silicone breast implants are also FDA-approved for those 22 and older. They are filled with a silicone gel which provides a more natural fatty feel similar to real breast tissue. Candidates interested in silicone implants must be cautious as ruptures can be more damaging to the body than a saline implant.

Whether you have saline or silicone breast implants, your incision can be periareolar, around the nipple; inframammary, underneath the crease of the breast; or transaxillary, underneath the armpit. Although you may have your preference of location, it is important to note that Dr. Basile may have a suggestion based on the type of implant and your goal in size. No matter what type of incision is used, Dr. Basile will be careful to place the incisions where scarring can be easily concealed. Depending on the type of implant and your body type, Dr. Basile will either place it in a pocket over or under the pectoral muscle. Once the implant is placed, the incisions will be closed with sutures and bandaged.

Fat Transfer

If you prefer another form of enhancement, Dr. Basile also offers Fat Transfer breast augmentation which uses Liposuction to transfer your own body’s fat to your breasts. The procedure offers a less invasive, more subtle enhancement for those who are candidates.

Results and Recovery

After your breast augmentation surgery, you will be given specific instructions from Dr. Basile on how to properly recover. To assist in reducing pain, he will prescribe you medication to ensure optimum comfort. You can expect some degree of swelling, bruising, and tightness that will diminish over the course of your recovery. You must refrain from physical activity for one week post-surgery and slowly resume your normal schedule after seven days. However, recovery time will vary depending on your type of breast augment, the placement of the implant, and if you choose implants.

Once swelling has diminished and your implants have settled, you can begin to enjoy the results of your breast augmentation with fuller, more symmetrical breasts. It is important to attend all necessary post-op appointments with Dr. Basile to ensure your incisions have healed properly and that your implants remain in good condition.
