How Does CoolSculpting Work?

Posted on February 8, 2019 under Non-Invasive

Non-surgical body sculpting treatments are quickly rising in popularity due to their lack of downtime. One of the most popular of these treatments is CoolSculpting! This procedure can eliminate stubborn pockets of fat without surgery or downtime for quick results. However, how does CoolSculpting work? Read on to learn more.

Where It All Began

Some years ago, two Harvard University scientists observed that some children who ate popsicles developed dimples in their cheeks. These scientists, Drs. Dieter Manstein and R. Rox Anderson, realized that the popsicles were freezing away small pockets of fat cells.

This idea, that cold can target fat cells without damaging surrounding tissues, was the basis behind cryolipolysis, the science on which CoolSculpting is based.

How CoolSculpting Works

The CoolSculpting treatment uses controlled cooling to target stubborn fat cells. This treatment can be used on many areas of the body for both men and women, including the double chin, upper arms, abdomen, flanks, and inner and outer thighs.

In the weeks following your CoolSculpting procedure, your body will naturally process the fat and eliminate the dead cells. Because these cells are eliminated from the body, they cannot grow back, so results are long-lasting!

Plus, because CoolSculpting is non-surgical, there is little to no downtime involved! Patients can return to their everyday activities right away.
